A Day In The Life
The HR Operations Technical Analyst II serves as subject matter expert and primary technical resource for assigned HR platforms, including but not limited to Timekeeping, HRIS, Applicant Tracking, and LMS. This role configures and maintains those systems, resolves the root cause of problems rather than repeating the same fix, and turns business needs into clear requirements. The analyst works directly with application vendors to deliver fixes and enhancements, protects data integrity, produces the reporting and operational analysis HR relies on, and keeps documentation and training current. Working with a high degree of independence within established standards, priorities, and change controls, the analyst continuously improves how HR systems serve associates, HR teams, and the business.

As a HR Ops Techn Analyst II you will:

  • Serves as subject matter expert and primary technical resource for assigned HR platforms (including but not limited to Timekeeping, HRIS, Applicant Tracking, and LMS), including how each is configured, how data moves between systems, and how HR Operations procedures depend on them.
  • Configure and maintain system settings, workflows, business rules, security roles, and scheduled processes within established standards and change control practices. Test changes and validate results before release.
  • Review vendor releases and updates, assess their impact on current configuration and processes, and plan testing and user communication.
  • Perform scheduled system maintenance, audits, and interface monitoring to keep platforms stable, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Own system questions and issues through resolution, meeting established service-level targets and keeping requesters informed.
  • Investigate unexpected results and recurring issues to find the root cause, using case data, system logs, configuration review, and data analysis.
  • Implement or recommend the permanent fix and document what was learned.
  • Use trends in case and ticket data to spot process, configuration, or communication gaps, and propose changes that reduce repeat demand.
  • Work with HR teams and business partners to clarify the problem being solved, who is affected, and what a better outcome looks like. Document business requirements, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Design, build, and test small to medium enhancements independently, and prepare well-defined recommendations for larger changes.
  • Act as the day-to-day technical contact with application vendors for assigned platforms: open and manage support cases, drive them to resolution, validate fixes, and track vendor commitments.
  • Partner directly with IT and other technical teams to resolve system issues and support integrations, enhancements and technical changes. Prepare clear requirements, documentation and test evidence, and coordinate with HR Operations leadership when decisions or escalation are needed. Bring vendor product direction and new functionality back to HR Operations, noting where it could solve a known business need.
  • Maintain data quality and integrity through audits, queries, validation checks, and monitoring. Correct the cause of data errors, not only the affected records.
  • Write, maintain, and support reports and queries using appropriate reporting tools, and build standard reports for recurring needs.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to HR systems and processes, including enhancements, automation, and AI-enabled features available within current platforms.
  • Define the problem and a baseline before a change, then measure the result afterward to confirm the improvement worked.
  • Pilot and evaluate new capabilities with a defined group of users, gathering feedback and data to inform whether to expand.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, configuration documentation, process maps, and knowledge base articles, and keep them current as systems and processes change.
  • Coach and train HR teams and end users to get the most from system functionality, including AI-enabled features within core HR platforms, and prepare training materials and communications for system changes.
  • Contribute to larger implementations and enhancements, including requirements, configuration, testing, data validation, documentation, training, and go-live support.
  • Support change management and communication so that system changes are understood and adopted.
  • Support audit and control requests, including system access, configuration, and data evidence, and follow established internal control practices.
  • Recognize and protect highly confidential and sensitive information.
