Applications Engineer Location: Dearborn, MI Pay Rate: $42.31/hour Schedule: Hybrid \| Monday-Thursday in office (4 days/week) Drive the design and development of next-generation automotive body structures. This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who enjoys taking vehicle sheet metal components from concept through production launch. You'll work on roof systems, pillars, quarter panels, and upper body structures while collaborating with supplier, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to deliver high-performance vehicle designs. Job Duties Lead design and release of automotive body structure components from pre-program through launch Develop and review 3D CAD models using CATIA V5/V6 or 3DX Design upper body sheet metal structures, including roof panels, pillars, and quarter panels Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, purchasing, and quality groups Support prototype builds, component testing, and product validation activities Manage engineering changes while meeting cost, timing, durability, and performance targets Support structural performance requirements including safety, NVH, stiffness, and durability Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum 5 years of automotive structures design and release engineering experience Experience developing automotive sheet metal components from concept to production Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills CATIA V5/V6 and/or 3DX experience preferred Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, DMAIC, DFSS, DOE, 8D, and CAD/CAE review processes preferred Benefits Medical, dental, vision, and pet insurance 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Commuter/Parking Accounts People Perks Health Savings Account (HSA) AD&D Insurance Ready to help shape the future of automotive engineering?
