| Position Purpose |
This position serves as the primary instructional and technical support resource for the performing arts facilities in the Communications Building. The position is responsible for maintaining performance, rehearsal, and studio spaces used for music, dance, and theater; supporting faculty instruction across performing arts disciplines; training students in the safe and effective use of performance systems and equipment; and creating documentation and learning materials that support the educational mission of the area. This position also coordinates the operational and production logistics of the Performing and Media Arts spaces in the Communications Building, including space scheduling, production support and event logistics coordination, personnel oversight, and fiscal tracking.
This position functions as the consistent on-the-ground steward of the performing arts learning ecosystem. As such, it supervises and mentors student workers and production crews, provides technical consultation to faculty and students on sound reinforcement, lighting, stage operations, recording, and related systems, and ensures that all performing arts spaces are fully functional, safe, and accessible to a broad spectrum of users. |
| Nature and Scope |
This position works within the Performing and Media Arts area and collaborates closely with Media Services, academic faculty, and campus partners to support performing arts programming. The performing arts facilities in the Communications Building support a range of activities, including music performance and instruction, dance, theater classes and student-produced theater, multimedia production, and interdisciplinary programs that incorporate live performance or media presentation.
The position bridges instructional support with operational coordination. On the instructional side, this role ensures that faculty have the technical infrastructure, equipment, and hands-on assistance they need to teach effectively, whether that involves configuring a recital space for an ensemble, setting up sound reinforcement for a music class, preparing a studio for a dance workshop, or supporting a theater production with technical advice. On the operational side, this role manages the scheduling, budgets, personnel, and building logistics that keep the performing arts spaces functioning.

The Evergreen State College is committed to being a welcoming campus community that reflects and enacts the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion that inform academic excellence. We seek candidates who will not only enhance our representational diversity, but whose engagement efforts contribute to diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments for our students, staff, and faculty. |
