Data Center Technician

The Role

UST is seeking a Data Center Technician to support large-scale data center environments, including server deployment, hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, rack and stack operations, cabling, and infrastructure maintenance. The ideal candidate brings experience in Windows environments, network support, incident management, and hardware lifecycle management, and is skilled in PowerShell, Python, and Bash scripting. The role places a strong focus on safety compliance, SLA adherence, technical documentation, and exceptional customer service in mission-critical environments.

What You'll Do

* Install, configure, and commission server hardware in enterprise data center environments, following deployment standards and operational procedures.

* Perform hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting, reducing downtime through rapid fault isolation and component replacement.

* Execute rack and stack activities, including cable management, labeling, grounding verification, and post-deployment quality checks.

* Support server decommissioning, hardware refresh projects, and asset lifecycle management.

* Use PowerShell and Python scripts to automate routine administrative and reporting tasks.

* Manage service tickets while achieving SLA and KPI targets.

* Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.

* Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and operations teams to support data center initiatives and incident resolution.

* Maintain data center inventory and support change management.

* Perform server maintenance and quality assurance checks.

* Follow safety compliance standards and complete required safety training.

What You Need

Required

* Five years of experience supporting large-scale data center environments.

* Experience with Windows operating systems and system administration.

* Experience with network support, network infrastructure support, and network design and implementation.

* Experience with incident management, escalation, and ticket management systems.

* Experience with hardware lifecycle management, including server installation, staging, refresh, and decommissioning.

* Skilled in PowerShell, Python, and Bash scripting for automation and operational efficiency.

* Strong focus on safety compliance, grounding, SLA and KPI adherence, technical documentation, and exceptional customer service in mission-critical environments.

* Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and accountability.

Preferred

* CompTIA A+ certification.

* CompTIA Server+ certification.

* CCENT or CCNA certification.

* MCP or MCSE certification.

Location & Compensation

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: North Carolina

Compensation Range: $50,000 - $75,000
