Description

Bolton & Menk is growing our Legislative & Strategic Funding practice, and we're looking for a Funding Advisor to help turn funding strategies into coordinated, high-quality client deliverables. In this role, you will support the Director and Advisors by mobilizing project teams, developing legislative materials, and keeping funding efforts moving forward. You'll collaborate across disciplines and regions to connect strategy, communications, and delivery.

You'll step into high-profile funding pursuits, coordinating the materials and follow-through needed to advance client priorities. Your work will include legislative brochures, fact sheets, one-pagers, talking points, draft strategy plans, and testimony. You'll also support business development through proposal development, client research, and identification of emerging funding markets.

We're looking for someone who builds trust, brings teams together, and takes pride in clear communication and dependable follow-through. We value a hands-on, working-manager approach and intentional mentoring. As you become established, you'll have opportunities to lead second-tier priority pursuits and build toward a future higher leadership role, with growth through staff development, people management, or elevated leadership in funding delivery and pursuits.

What You'll Be Doing:

Internal Communications & Coordination

  • Draft and distribute internal communications on legislative developments, policy, and funding programs.
  • Gather contributions from funding specialists to produce clear, coordinated updates.
  • Support the Director and Advisors by connecting team members with the information and materials needed for client funding efforts.
  • Translate meeting discussions and strategy direction into clear next steps and coordinated follow-through.

Funding Application Quality & Pursuit Support

  • Provide quality assurance and quality control for high-priority funding applications.
  • Coordinate funding specialist and technical team input to strengthen application materials.
  • Review and refine narratives so client priorities and funding strategies are clearly communicated.
  • Help ensure funding deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and compelling.

Business Development & Professional Growth

  • Support business development by shaping proposals and researching client needs ahead of pursuits.
  • Help identify emerging funding markets and opportunities to expand services.
  • Lead second-tier priority pursuits as you build experience toward a future Advisor role.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to staff development as your role grows.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, planning, communications, finance, or closely related field with a minimum of 10 years of municipal/municipal consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in the funding program and/or service area for which the position is leading.
  • Experience leading public sector loan and/or grant program administration.
