The Electrical Estimator will review engineering and field documentation, perform detailed electrical takeoffs, develop labor and material cost models, evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing, and identify key estimating assumptions and project risks.

This position is preferably based in Scottsdale, AZ, Bedminster, NJ, Katy, TX, or Pleasanton, CA, with remote consideration available.

Our Team

Join a culture that values ownership, continuous improvement, and innovation, where you'll help shape estimating processes critical to large-scale renewable energy projects. At Koch, career growth isn't limited to a predefined path. Through our Principle Based Management philosophy, you'll have opportunities to pursue work aligned with your strengths and interests across our network of businesses.

What You Will Do

  • Review engineering documentation, design packages, one-line diagrams, bills of material (BOMs), project specifications, and field documentation to develop accurate estimates for utility-scale Solar and BESS projects.
  • Develop detailed bottoms-up cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, rentals, mobilization, and other project costs.
  • Perform electrical quantity takeoffs and develop labor and productivity models using engineering design packages and available project documentation.
  • Develop estimate assumptions, exclusions, allowances, escalation factors, and contingency strategies to appropriately account for project scope and commercial risk.
  • Partner with project development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate scope assumptions, identify project risks, and support proposal development.
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing and maintain current material, equipment, labor, and productivity data to support competitive and accurate cost models.
  • Conduct site visits as needed and incorporate actual project costs, execution feedback, and lessons learned to continuously improve estimating accuracy and proposal qualit

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience estimating electrical construction work for an electrical contractor, EPC contractor, or similar organization.
  • Experience evaluating and estimating work where project or field documentation may be incomplete or require additional scope validation.
  • Experience using cost estimating methodologies and estimating software.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs, labor modeling, productivity analysis, vendor quote evaluation, and contingency development.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% to project sites, customer meetings, and other business locations.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience estimating utility-scale Solar, BESS, or other large-scale electrical construction projects.
  • Experience with InEight Estimating or similar estimating software used for large-scale EPC or construction projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical commodity pricing and market drivers, including major equipment and materials such as cable, switchgear, transformers, and collection systems.
  • Experience developing or improving estimating processes, tools, databases, or methodologies.

For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000 - $150,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
