Supervisor, Substation Construction and Maintenance

Purpose

Responsible for the daily supervision and organization of the Substation Electrical Maintenance and Construction personnel in order to effectively, and safely accomplish jobs tasks in line with departmental and company requirements. This role will translate functional policy by design procedures driving greater efficiencies and performance within their own team.

Accountabilities
  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and transition the existing operations and maintenance of the distribution substations in the Lebanon, Charlestown, and Salem NH operating areas
  • Supervise and manage the overhead line personnel and Emergency Workers and Troubleshooters of the Electricity Distribution Operations (EDO) group as needed
  • Monitor productivity and direct Company personnel and contractors on construction, maintenance, and daily operations
  • Ensure construction standards, and environmental and safety regulations are followed
  • Contribute to the protection of the public and organizational personnel by ensuring all materials, standards and procedures are in line with Liberty Utilities safety policies and processes.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
  • Monitor and assess team working practices to ensure they are compliant with regulations relating to their area.
  • Manage HR aspects of team including matters related to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work and enforce the Labor agreement in order to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Coordinate the planning and completion of department related construction and maintenance with Engineering, Customer Care, other departments, external customers, public agencies and vendors.
  • Fill in as required to perform Overhead or Meter Department supervisory roles.
  • Required to perform physical work during emergency situations.
  • Respond to regular and off-hour emergency outages by working with Dispatch Control when required; take appropriate steps to restore equipment and power in a timely manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering or related field and at least three years of demonstrated electrical distribution and substation C&M Lead or Supervisory experience
  • Electrical utility experience required, such as knowledge of overhead, underground, substation, engineering, construction and design practices.
  • Prior supervisory/crew leader experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) required.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on-call rotations sometimes requiring travel outside the division for emergency assignments.
  • Strong knowledge with interpreting maps, specification sheets, prints, schematics, diagrams and instructional information to construct, maintain and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Qualify for Company's Clearance and Control List (Lockout Tagout Worker Protection).
  • Requires knowledge of all safety and OSHA regulations related to substation and overhead construction.
  • Schedule outages with Engineering, Energy Solutions and Dispatch Control for planned projects and repairs.
  • Available for an On Call rotation for part or all of the NH operations and during storm restorations.
  • Maybe required to perform physical work during emergency situations as required.
  • Valid driver's license with safe driving record required.
  • Pass DOT physical & exam required #LI-DS1
