Position Summary

The Film program at Allan Hancock College, Santa Maria is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for possible vacancies. Positions are available as determined by need during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2022-2023 academic years.

Responsibilities and duties may include teaching one or more subjects in the Film program: Film Studies (Film Art and Communications, Hollywood and American Film, History of World Cinema, Contemporary Latin American Film...). Successful candidates will be able to provide evidence of a sensitivity to, understanding of, and the ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.


Essential Functions and Qualifications

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
* Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
* Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
* Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
* Teach all scheduled classes.
* Maintain accurate records.
* Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/or off-campus classes.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in film, drama/theater arts or mass
communication
OR
Bachelor's degree in any of the above
AND
Master's degree in media studies, English or
communication
OR the equivalent.

SALARY:
Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
