Job Description

The University of Nevada, Southern AreaExtension's 4-H Program is recruitingforfour (4)Community Based Instructor 3positions.This position is located in Las Vegas Nevada.* This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The Community Based Instructor 3 cultivates relationships with community partners to establish 4-H clubsand implement positive youth developmentprograms.4H programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing.The position works with youth, ages 5-19, families and volunteers using the experiential learning model. The position also coordinates logistics for day camps, overnight camps and special events and fairs. The position is involved in the evaluation of program delivery of 4-H programsto include school enrichment, educator training, overnight camps, day camps, fairs, teen leadership, among others. The Community Based Instructor 3 also coordinates operational and logistical needs related to the 4-H program in the assigned geographical and topic areas. Other duties include entering and maintaining data in the various online systems.The position implements youth programs in the topic areas of STEM, Animal Science and Agriculture, Civic Engagement and Citizenship, Leadership, Expressive and Creative Arts, Healthy Living, Social and Emotional Learning, Environmental Education, and Family and Consumer Sciences.

Required Qualifications

This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience working with school-aged children (ages 9-19); teaching experience for adult and child learners, and experience with 4-H programs are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

This position will have a varied schedule and requires working evenings and weekends. This is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01 $17.80hr. - Step 04 $20.11/hr.)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
