Senior Back Office Development Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Development Manager (Back Office) to be based in Chicago, IL, with a proven track record in the support and development of ERP systems to join our team.

The successful candidate will lead the North America ERP support and development team, who are responsible for supporting the ERP systems that are used in the Farnell Group.

It would also require Out of Hours support on a rota basis.

The role will offer a salary of up to TBC (dependant on experience), plus benefits and an opportunity to work remotely up to 3 days per week (subject to business requirements).

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of projects involving applications supporting our ERP system (OTC, P2P, Finance, Supply Chain and Logistics) and associated ecosystems
  • Manage functional and technical architecture analysis, research, design and development of new functionality and integration with key applications and services under ERP system and associated ecosystems
  • Manage matrix a team consisting of internal and external resources
  • Drive business system development, integration, data migration and conversions
  • Hold self and others accountable to the committed deadlines and ensure successful deliverables
  • Take an active role in the development of other team members
  • Engage with leading customers and strategic partners to identify and validate requirements and translate to successful solution design and delivery
  • Lead team in driving and delivering customer solutions
  • Performing and supporting integration architecture and infrastructure design activities
  • Participating in resolving system issues including technology integration problems
  • Act as a mentor, coach, and identify training to team members by facilitating the sharing of solution and technical expertise.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through quality work and effective communication throughout projects lifecycle

Essential Criteria:

  • Thorough understanding of the project lifecycle from requirements Definition through Post Implementation Support
  • Experience in leading teams in designing and building ERP applications
  • Experience in leading teams supporting ERP systems
  • Excellent customer and stakeholder management skills
    • Able to report both verbally and in writing to executive level
  • Must be approachable and have excellent interpersonal skills both remotely and in person.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, adapt easily and handle crisis situations
  • Be ambitious and strive for continuous improvement, both for the team, and personally
  • Methodical, analytical, and conscientious approach, particularly regarding customer service.
  • Able to learn new systems quickly.
  • At ease working under pressure to cost and time deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Flexible approach - the position will occasionally be required to provide on-call support
  • Must have expertise in delivering solutions with end-end process in view cutting across complex landscape
  • Experience in collaboration in a matrix-managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand deal strategy and drivers, translate business needs into requirements, develop proposed solutions, and deliver high impact change initiatives
  • Ability to assess and manage technical risks and issues

Desirable Criteria:

  • Distribution & Supply Chain background
  • Proven experience in a support role that entails multiple technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities across a wide range of software solutions
  • Previous experience supporting WMS and hybrid warehouse environments
  • Good understanding of the following business processes.
    • OTC, P2P, Finance, Supply Chain and Logistics
  • Experience from a fast-moving E-Commerce environment
  • Technical understanding of IBM I series systems
  • Previous experience of the understanding of system-to-system integration

Work Experience:

  • Typically 6+ years including 2+ years of supervisory experience

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
