Position Summary

The Economist is responsible for carrying out research and working with large data sets; examining data to assess the feasibility of various scenarios and communicate the implications of analysis and findings through reports. He/she will improve, execute, and effectively communicate analyses that identify meaningful trends and opportunities across the commercial real estate spectrum and specifically within the multifamily industry. In this role the economist will provide written analysis in the form of white papers to key stakeholders, business clients, and management as well as participate in regular meetings with management and clients, assessing and addressing issues to identify and provide guidance in the form of economic whitepapers reports.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties (Primary Responsibilities) include the following.



  • Preform analysis of real estate and economic data and trends and translate to actionable insights that can be leveraged by stakeholders, external clients, and management.
  • Key metrics to analyze I.e., Income data, labor markets, household formation, general demographics, housing supply and demand metrics, apartment fundamentals, pricing trends within the real estate industry.
  • Work with content analyst on blog content.
  • Creation of regularly released Commercial Real Estate and economic updates for institutional client consumption.
  • Creation of in-depth whitepapers focusing on the demand drivers or relevant trends within the Commercial Multifamily housing sector.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience required.



  • Bachelor's degree in Economics; Master's degree preferred
  • Analytical thinking: ability to apply logic in identifying and considering alternatives to arrive at valid conclusions that will aid the organization in making sound decisions
  • Communication skills: support the business with the interpretation and application of economic data, as well as provide reports of findings to management and clients. it is important that applicants have both written and verbal communication skills to perform their duties successfully
  • Research skills: Applicants must also be skilled in searching various sources to gather data relevant for the analysis of key market metrics affecting the business or other specific issues
  • Statistical skills: To work effectively as an economist, it is important that applicants can apply and/or have a working knowledge of various statistical techniques to carry out data analysis, and develop macro-economic forecast models.
