About this Position:

"Total quality mindset" and effective "corporate social responsibility" are two key corporate goals of AHM. This job contributes to these goals by enabling the Tax Department to accurately report and pay its tax liabilities to various tax authorities and to accurately report taxes for the benefit of internal and external stakeholders. This position enables AHM to meet its legal and regulatory requirements in order to be a "company that society wants to exist." The job is responsible for the highly valuable research and development (R&D) tax credit, as well other development- and manufacturing-related project, research, and compliance requirements, and is an important contributor towards departmental business plan themes. This position also involves leading tax technical projects related to Honda new business, new ventures, and organizational changes. This job will also assist on international projects as needed.

Responsibilities include:



  • Provide leadership and support to development & manufacturing activities, especially the R&D credit, which is a high-value, time-consuming, and extremely complex process that requires significant technical expertise, organization, and collaboration within Tax, Finance, outside advisors, and throughout the business (even at the plant level).
  • Review complete and accurate federal income tax returns, state income tax workpapers, quarterly income tax estimates and annual income tax extensions for AHM and/or AHM and Subs/Affiliates and other entities (e.g., foreign subsidiaries) as assigned by internal due dates, including Honda Motor deadlines. Assist with quarterly and year-end consolidated and/or separate company income tax provisions and schedules.
  • Complete other assignments by deadlines established such as: Research tax technical issues; Support international tax projects; Respond to tax notices; Assist in gathering information for IRS or state income tax audits; Maintenance of Tax Calendar and Assignment Listings.


Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:



  • 5+ years' work experience in a medium to large size CPA firm (min of 4 years must be in Tax) and/or tax dept of a medium to large size multi-state corporation.
  • Experience must include significant work on R&D Tax credit as well as preparing, reviewing, and supervising staff in the preparation of federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns
  • ASC 740 (GAAP) tax provision experience required. IAS 12 (IFRS) tax provision experience a plus.


Required Education:



  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • CPA, Masters in Accounting, Masters in Taxation, (preferred)
  • Continual technical education in statutory and regulatory environment


Desired skills:



  • Highly organized, works independently and reliably
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state income tax laws, regulations, and other guidance
  • Excellent financial accounting/reporting skills (primarily ASC 740 & IAS 12) and understanding accounting systems (SAP a plus)
  • Proficient in use of electronic tax research (Checkpoint) and tax preparation software (OneSource preferred) in addition to Microsoft applications
  • Competent communicator, both verbal and written. Able to lead others and manage projects effectively.

Total Rewards:



  • Competitive Base Salary: $77,800 to $116,700


Pay will be based on several variables that include, but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, etc.
