MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:



  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or similar disciplines
  • Experience in Java software development in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience developing C++ object-oriented software in Linux environments
  • Demonstrable OO design skills and use of design patterns
  • Experience installing and configuring applications in a virtual machine environment
  • Experience with system administration in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience working with scripting languages


DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:



  • Experience developing engaging and intuitive user interfaces
  • Experience developing client-server implementations
  • Experience with Maven, Spring, and JavaFX
  • Familiar with the use of middleware in distributed applications
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience with the Atlassian product suite
  • Experience with IntelliJ, GIT, and Subversion
  • Experience with system administration in Windows and Linux environments
  • Strong background in C++ and Java development
  • Experience with digital signal processing
  • Experience configuring a development and production release environment on a CentOS system
  • Scripting experience working with Python

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Participates in a fast-paced Agile development environment
  • Designs and develops business logic and the user interfaces required for a Java/JavaFX client
  • Implements UI mockups and backend code to support the associated functionality
  • Takes part in grooming and planning meetings
  • Assists in designing, modifying, and developing code, primarily in both C++ and Java
  • Implements intuitive and elegant user interfaces to interact with complex hardware
  • Creates business logic to interact with data from hardware as well as user input
  • Participates in code design and work with senior engineers to refine and finalize the designs
  • Interacts with other team members through code reviews, design discussions, and UI design activities
  • Makes recommendations for new functionality or enhancements to existing functionality
