What does a great Legal Counsel II do?

The Legal Counsel role at Travelport is pivotal to support the company's operations in the Americas. This role will focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts that facilitate the provision of travel and related services, with other duties as required of a corporate generalist. This person must be a results-oriented lawyer with an awareness of commercial objectives.

Responsibilities:



  • Provide legal advice and negotiations support to Travelport business teams on a wide range of legal issues, supporting Travelport's sales and account and airline management teams in the US, LATAM and Canada.
  • Analyze, draft, negotiate, and manage contracts.
  • Keep up to date on Travelport's internal systems, processes, financial requirements, product offerings and other business strategies and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and legal controls while providing a business sensitive, value added approach to the delivery of legal service.
  • Provide timely, clear, and thoughtful legal guidance to clients on potential risks and issues
  • Direct and manage outside counsel as required, particularly regarding disputes arising from above responsibilities.
  • Provide legal support with respect to other issues and areas affecting Travelport's business as reasonably required.


What we look for/who would prosper in this role?



  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 3-6 years of relevant work experience as legal counsel supporting commercial transactions and a variety of contract types. Foundational experience required with a national or regional law firm or in an in-house role. (Big Firm Experience a plus.)
  • Knowledge of the in-house legal role and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of business and legal partners.
  • Able to manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Superb organizational skills, detail oriented, flexible, innovative, and culturally sensitive.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is helpful, as is experience with technology transactions.

Salary Target: $150,000 - $175,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
