What you will be doing

The Principal Program Manager is a business function that operates across Customer and Digital functions, while leading the specific Pillar and Category business. The Program manager provides oversight and alignment across the business and in alignment with our technical engineering teams. This leader is critical to governance pertaining to each project, initiative, and program within and across the specific Pillar and Category portfolio, aimed at accelerating time to customer delight, simplifying and prioritizing initiatives and reducing waste (time, resources, cost). The successful candidate will have led standardization of Agile processes, tools and portfolio management methodologies and has demonstrated success in leading Agile teams and initiatives. Must be disciplined, dynamic and flexible, work effectively in a rapidly changing environment, and meet ongoing and overlapping deadlines. This leadership candidate will have proven strengths in business analytics, project management and execution, communication, collaboration, and leadership.

The Principal Program Manager will report to the Group VP of the Portfolio and will drive the overall Program Management structure and execution across the Portfolio. This position includes ownership of the overall strategic planning, budgeting and yearly/quarterly planning and prioritization efforts.

This role is a highly collaborative and visible position that requires extensive cross-group coordination at all levels and the ability to manage high volume, high impact work. The perfect candidate is strategic and has a bias for action; thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; and easily partners successfully with a wide group of stakeholders, from senior leaders to individual contributors both at the corporate functions as well as with the store/division president level. This leader knows how to roll up their sleeves and drive intake of the initiatives for the portfolio (supporting and driving) and owns the full launch plan as appropriate. This individual can work at the highest strategic level while flawlessly executing at the detailed level as an individual contributor and builder.

The position will be based in Pleasanton, California, or one of our Division offices.

Main responsibilities



  • Contribute to the operating model(s), and areas of focus for the Program Manager role within the Pillar.
  • Set standards and measure our organization in adherence to our Agile process, methods and execution, as it relates to your portfolio/pillar and provides on the spot feedback into the PMO Corp. for efficiency gains overall.
  • Determine ongoing effectiveness of processes and tools and adjust accordingly.
  • Develop measurement criteria and methodologies and determine cadence to reporting for your portfolio.
  • Inspect and address correction of errors plan and launch plans to reduce risk, simplify process and accelerate program, project and initiative launch.
  • Define and create review cadence and ROB for portfolio Pillar team to ensure Master Schedule creation and monitoring, collaborating across functions to ensure a single point of accountability for the portfolio plan execution 3-Year Planning/Yearly Roadmap/Quarterly execution.
  • Develop and manage team hiring structure, onboarding execution for consistency and feedback to overall onboarding. This includes strategically lead open HC process reporting, overall Talent Management alignment and reporting for the Pillar.
