Position Summary

Avantax Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Blucora and sister company to Avantax Planning Partners is seeking an Internal Business Development Consultant that will be responsible for supporting the Strategic Partnership Program with affiliated financial professionals within Avantax. The position requires the ability to accelerate the process of matching tax professionals with financial planners in a mutually beneficial relationship. There is also a focus on collaboration with the Growth Consultant teams to drive production with newly established Partnerships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Partner with Director to operationalize Strategic Alliance Program.

  • Prospecting - Including cold calling, lead nurturing, internal call inquiries, and lead qualification.

  • Use of CRM (Salesforce) to track lead movement and daily activities.

  • Provide Tech Demos via Zoom, tailored to advisor needs.

  • Develop skill set, knowledge base, and industry experience.

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter, client-focused, team-oriented, and able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience

  • 1-2 years in a sales role; financial services experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related areas preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and Regional Directors.

  • Collaborating with Director and Business Development team to assist in achieving sales targets.

  • Ability to quickly build rapport, primarily via phone-based communication.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Exceptional organizational skills are required.

  • Comfortable with occasional travel.

  • SIE, Series 7/66 preferred.

  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Salesforce, and MS Outlook.

Physical Demand & Work Effort

  • Keying/typing, standing, walking.

  • Sitting for an extended period.

  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.

  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.

  • Compliance with company attendance standards.
