Application Window Open date: January 10, 2023 Most recent review date: Wednesday, Apr 24, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Wednesday, Jul 10, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Junior or Assistant Specialist (Protein Biochemistry) - Kortemme Lab The Junior / Assistant Specialist will join an interdisciplinary research group working on designing proteins with new structures and functions with applications in biotechnology and medicine. This position is also an exciting opportunity to contribute to research efforts developing small molecule drugs targeting diverse viruses including SARS-CoV2, as part of an international collaboration (for more information see https://qbi.ucsf.edu/qcrgAViDD). The Specialist will collaborate with graduate students and postdocs to target viral proteins and to test proteins designed computationally using new approaches, including deep-learning. The Specialist will be in charge of protein expression, purification, and biochemical activity assays. The Specialist will analyze experimental data and present the analysis to the research group. The Specialist will be required to accurately document all experiments and will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates interested in obtaining research experience prior to applying to graduate school as well as those who prefer to be long-term staff specialists will be considered. Required Qualifications:
