DESCRIPTION

The Preuss School UC San Diego is a public Charter School located on the UC San Diego East Campus for Grades 6-12 dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As part of UC San Diego, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban students for college admission.

The psychologist will provide aspects of psychological services including assessment, individual therapy, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, and group therapy for students and families exclusively for The Preuss School UC San Diego to address students' school-related challenges and to facilitate the learning and social-emotional development of students. The psychologist participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team in consultation with other education professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid California Psychology license, and an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Theoretical understanding and clinical experience in behavioral, cognitive-behavioral and acceptance-based therapeutic approaches in an education setting.

  • Knowledge and skill in short-term problem-focused psychotherapeutic interventions and a thorough working knowledge of DSM-IV-TR categories and differential diagnosis.

  • Strong writing ability and experience in writing concise, factual psychosocial notes and program reports.

  • Ability to design, implement and lead psychoeducational groups on a variety of related issues and topics relevant to students and families at the Preuss School UC San Diego.

  • Knowledge of Cognitive-Behavioral and Acceptance-based therapeutic interventions.

  • Strong crisis intervention skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver care in an ethical, non-judgmental, and non-discriminatory manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse populations and co-workers, exercising tact, flexibility and diplomacy.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must possess a valid Psychology License in California.

  • Must pass background checks (LiveScan) and Tuberculosis (TB) screening.

  • This position is a mandated reporter of known or suspected child abuse or neglect, according to the California law, Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $89,730 - $156,245 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $42.97 - $74.83

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
