Application Window Open date: January 27, 2023 Most recent review date: Thursday, Jun 27, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Saturday, Jul 27, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist - Chen Lab The Chen lab is seeking several Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist to join our growing, interdisciplinary team at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences on the Mission Bay campus. Our research focus is on developing cutting-edge technologies to study brain-body physiology and to design new therapies for circuit disorders. We are looking for highly motivated individuals interested in engineering of biomolecules, cells, and devices within the nervous system. The researcher will be involved in experiments to record and stimulate specific neurons in vitro and in vivo. Experimental responsibilities may include performing stereotaxic procedures, electrophysiology recording, animal husbandry, molecular biology (e.g., cloning, making vectors), immunohistochemistry, and other duties. The researcher is expected to contribute substantially to the preparation of papers for publication, and will have the opportunity to present ongoing work to colleagues and/or academic conferences. The Specialist will also oversee supply and equipment budget under supervision of the principal investigator and work with health and safety departments to ensure the lab complies with regulations and all required trainings. Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
