  • MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years' of relevant experience in aerospace systems

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:



  • Systems engineering experience
  • Experience and a depth of knowledge in one or more of the following: hypersonic vehicles, space vehicles, reentry vehicles, rocket propulsion, ICBMs, Missile Defense
  • Aerospace system test and evaluation, specifically long range or hypersonic flight testing
  • Broad knowledge of military systems and their missions
  • Experience with unmanned aerial systems (UAS), specifically RQ-4 Global Hawk and MQ-9 Reaper

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is to oversee the modernization of DoD Hypersonic Flight Testing supported by the Test Resource Management Center's (TRMC) Test and Evaluation Science and Technology Program (T&E/S&T). The T&E/S&T Program invests in technologies to enhance the capabilities of the DoD Test Ranges to test the full spectrum of military capabilities in support of DoD acquisition, experimentation, prototyping, and technical demonstrations for a wide range of technical areas. The TRMC T&E/S&T personnel also lead OSD's Hypersonic Test and Evaluation strategic planning for investments in capability enhancements and actively track Hypersonic flight test activities. The flight test subject matter expert (SME) will help TRMC develop the long term vision and investment roadmap in support of the nation's test and evaluation of hypersonic systems. The SME must bring knowledge of weapon or aircraft flight test execution, range capabilities, and range safety requirements in order to help collect and analyze investments plans to include in the TRMC investment roadmap. The SME must be capable of fostering working relationships with those developing T&E infrastructure. This job suits an independent self-starter that requires little day-to-day supervision, someone who can work across all the Services, DARPA, SCO, and MDA for the greater interest of DoD. Individual must be TS/SCI eligible. The employee is expected to be based in the national capital region and work from the TRMC office in the Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia as well as telework.



  • Work as an integral part of the TRMC's hypersonic test and evaluation team
  • Become very familiar with DoD and industry flight test ranges, instrumentation, telemetry assets, and test processes, including close coordination with the TRMC flight test range asset scheduling lead
  • Work with TRMC-lead teams that support hypersonic flight-testing using assets carried on RQ-4 Global Hawk and/or MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial systems
  • Maintain professional relationships with key DoD and industry players in the long range and hypersonic flight test community
  • Build familiarity with hypersonic, missile defense, and other DoD programs requiring long range flight test
  • Participate and contribute in meetings / working groups focused on hypersonic and long range flight-testing
  • Organize and lead meetings / working groups to include developing agendas, briefing materials, gathering and organizing actions, and drafting post meeting debriefs
  • Develop high-quality briefings and other written materials
  • Attend conferences and give briefings related to the TRMC mission
  • Travel to various meetings at flight test ranges and other sites CONUS and OCONUS
  • Strictly adhere to all applicable OPSEC and security guidelines
