Org, Team, and Overall Work Scope
Reporting to the VP, IT Governance and Platform Operations , you will work closely with QA Manager, Development Managers, Platform Engineering, IT Ops, Product Owners and PMO and will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments in an agile environment.
The RM will be a core part of the IT Governance team that works collaboratively across Technology, Compliance, and Audit teams to ship quality products and ensure high customer and subscriber satisfaction. The environment is fast-paced, fluid, and requires high adaptability and assertiveness to be successful.
You will oversee the building of Release Calendar with the Product teams, working closely with the key stakeholders and creating a centralized view of all releases.
You will lead the efforts to refine the release management process with key stakeholders and ensure the process requirements of release managements are built in the deployment process.
Whereas release managers in the past focused more on the planning, building, and testing stages, many today focus more on operations and compliance. The role is also vital for ensuring a positive culture and experience for IT team members - so everyone can count on a predictable release schedule and celebrate successful deployments.
At a high level, here are some of the core areas you are responsible for as a release manager:
Building an automated deployment pipeline and associated processes
Defining quality gates and thresholds
Monitoring customer feedback
Tracking results of test automation suites
Collaborating cross-functionally -This last point is worth reiterating. As a release manager, you should be communicating frequently not only with developers and QA, but also members of operations, product management, customer support, marketing, and sales. Collaborating closely with these teams helps you ensure that what you are delivering meets the expectations of customers and the business.
Essential Functions
  • Plan release windows and cycles across portfolios, and components; work with Product Owners, Project/Program Managers, Application Development Leaders, Testing/Quality Leaders, and Infrastructure Leaders to construct and manage overall release schedules and set appropriate expectations as to functional deployment for the release
  • Work with Development Managers and IT Ops engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
  • Manage, plan, and negotiate release activities and initiate and oversee progressive release processes
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and participate in Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Product teams and Business as required
  • Coordinate release content and effort based on the projects, backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or infrastructure updates
  • Produce Deployment, Run Books, and Implementation Plans
  • Produce Release reporting weekly or as required
  • Continually evaluate & improve the release effort by improving processes, removing inefficiencies, and automating manual steps
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Create metrics and dashboards to facilitate a data-driven approach to process improvement
  • Manage risks and resolve challenges that impact release scope, quality, and schedules
  • Be highly adaptable to change in a fast-moving environment and work with a great sense of urgency.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED mandatory with 10 + years of overall experience in IT that includes 3+ years of proven experience as a Release Manager in an Agile Environment
  • Thorough knowledge of release management processes using current trends and tools in the industry including DevOps and CI/CD
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Hands-on experience documenting and improving processes around release management best practices
  • Experience in defining release readiness criteria and risk assessment, ensuring all changes meet criteria prior to deployment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ITIL, Software Configuration Management (SCM), Version Control Systems (VCS) and Agile project Management principles
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively communicate and coordinate between multiple teams including Infrastructure, Support, Development, QA, SMEs, Architects, and Business Stakeholders
  • Experience operating in high-frequency release and agile software development lifecycles
  • Experience in defining release readiness criteria and risk assessment, ensuring all changes meet criteria prior to deployment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Strong, proven problem-solving skills with the ability analyze effectively and reverse engineer to quickly solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users, and senior leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Ability to self-manage, self-start, lead technically, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work late or on weekends during deployments.
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in any situation or pressure conditions.
Preferred Education, experiences, and skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related field
  • Advanced technical knowledge of feature toggling, branch handling, and overall CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience working in mid-size Software Product/SaaS Organizations
  • Experience driving large process improvement and/or automation projects and programs
  • A solid understanding of ITIL/ITSM practices and solutions development from the drawing board to production delivery, including experience with troubleshooting scenarios in production environments
The annual base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $145000; the offered salary will be based on location and candidate's relevant experience .

Work Environment & Physical Demands
AIP is a remote-first company, however our US based roles are open to in-office or flex work if you live in a city with a physical office location. This role has the opportunity to operate 100% virtually from your US based home office. We primarily collaborate with our US colleagues through virtual meetings (Zoom), email, and Slack. In this role, you will have to operate a laptop computer (PC or Mac available), computer software platforms, and other office productivity machinery, as necessary. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to remain stationary for extended periods and must be able to observe and interpret written and/or verbal communication.
