Position Summary

Avantax is seeking a Strategy Analyst who will be responsible for supporting and helping drive strategic and operational initiatives across the business. The Strategy Analyst will work on projects that primarily focus on achieving leading positioning, growth, and/or performance across Avantax Projects. This could include an analysis of client segments, product offerings, geographies, or enabling areas. The Strategy Analyst will also support key senior leadership and Board-level activities, including material development, logistical coordination, and communication. This individual will have opportunities to interact with the most senior leaders in the organization, including the executive leadership team, and assist in the execution of various special projects, which have the potential to significantly impact our organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive market trend and competitive landscape analysis, business and financial modeling, and strategic analysis.

  • Manage secondary research to analyze the marketplace to help senior leaders understand market opportunities and competitive positioning.

  • Ensure the logic, accuracy, and appropriate scope of fact bases with which to inform strategic analyses.

  • Support innovation through hands-on tests and experiments that can accelerate our growth and scale our business.

  • Synthesize results of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis into implications, key trends, and/or recommendations.

  • Develop and apply appropriate methodologies for market segmentation and sizing.

  • Help develop analytical frameworks to identify, prioritize, structure, and solve complex business problems.

  • Develop high-quality presentation materials for a range of internal and external audiences.

  • Develop content for executive-level presentations and reports to communicate and achieve buy-in for strategic recommendations.

  • Provide general support including document creation and coordination for key business meetings including Quarterly Business Reviews, Executive Leadership team, and Board of Director meetings.

  • Other duties as required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA/advanced degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years of work experience, with experience in the financial sector or management consulting preferred.

  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills, with an emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel. Understanding of and experience with business intelligence software, such as Tableau or Power BI preferred.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate quantitative and qualitative analyses into clear messages for the audience.

  • Ability to provide informed responses to leadership in short timeframes and under heightened pressure.

  • Ability to handle sensitive leadership information with the utmost confidentiality.

  • A high degree of comfort working in an unstructured environment that requires solving complex, open-ended issues with incomplete data and minimal direction.

  • A high degree of poise, maturity, discretion, and diplomacy.

  • Keying/typing, standing, walking.

  • Sitting for an extended period.

  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.

  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.
