Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for the creation and maintenance of Moody's Axis actuarial models used to support the production process, including models used in Corporate Planning, Solvency II, Cash Flow Testing, Valuation (Stat, Tax, IFRS4), as well as supporting IFRS 9, IFRS17, & PBR. Demonstrated ability to function as the model steward for assigned Axis datasets is essential. Inform stakeholders of progress and agreed prioritization of all model change requests, striving to execute all requests with superior quality, timing, and communications. Collaborate with model development, model governance, model users, and other departments across organization.

AXIS Term/WL Model Development

    Support the model stewards of Moody's Axis production datasets.
  • Code new products and re-price activity keeping pace with the aggressive pricing cycle
  • Code Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) transactions
  • Code reinsurance transactions
  • Provide Axis expertise on model development, refinement, and implementation
  • Assure compliance with regulations, actuarial standards & guidelines, and industry best practices
  • Develop, test, and analyze model changes for each product, metric, and purpose
  • Provide support during functional design, model specification, development, and implementation stages
  • Ensure model control is maintained to prevent unauthorized changes and ensure integrity of model results
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all changes, including impacts under key reporting base

Maintain Model Point File (MPF) creation process

  • Run SQL frontend code and prepare monthly Axis in-force files
  • Provide expertise on design and development of SQL frontend and backend

Coordination and Leadership

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure functionality, validation, and production meets timelines
  • Collaborate on assumption changes and new functionality
  • Ensure consistency across models and metrics
  • Identify and implement improvements, including automation of manual tasks where possible

Education

  • BS/BA Math/Statistics.
  • Advancing ASA or Career ASA

Experience/Knowledge

  • 5+ years of life insurance/actuarial experience
  • Axis model development experience required
  • Experience with Term & UL products preferred.
  • Pension buyout or payout annuity experience preferred.
  • Experience in multiple accounting methods (STAT, Tax, IFRS, SII) preferred

Skills

  • Moody's Axis experience is a key requirement and Datalink experience is expected.
  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities (Excel, MS Access, and SQL).
  • Strong actuarial analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Collaborative with ability to be a team player on cross-functional teams
