Division Description

The Great Lakes Division supplies corrugated containers, point of purchase displays, wood/foam specialty packaging, and contract packaging and fulfillment services. Our goal is to provide our customers solutions to their packaging and retail requirements and deliver "one stop shopping solutions."



Position Overview

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions

    Comply with all company policies and procedures, including practicing safe work habits, maintaining organization, safe food defense and good manufacturing practices.
  • Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified and licensed to properly operate the forklift.
  • Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Proactively locate and delivery stock to appropriate machines safely and on time.
  • Proactively remove finished goods from take-off line.
  • Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
  • Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
  • Assist other forklift operators as necessary and may be requested to backup Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Cross train for other job positions as necessary.
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Delivery Receipts, Forklift Inspection Reports, Bill of Ladings, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is a plus, but not required.
  • 1-2 years' experience as a Forklift driver in an industrial environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and partners.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required of this position.
  • Required to maintain a safe driving record and a current forklift certification.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is primarily required to sit with frequent walking, stooping and bending. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
