DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of a Senior Supervisor Clinical Laboratory Specialist (CLS), perform independently a wide variety of technical procedures in the Chemistry, Hematology and/or Coagulation Departments.

Responsibilities will include repairing of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation and data entry. All CLS's perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor review for the tests that are within their scope of licensure and for which they have been trained and deemed competent.

On a daily basis, assess overall workload for any area that needs help and help coworkers without being reassigned by the supervisor. Work is assigned daily and reviewed by supervisory personnel.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, the incumbent will be hired at the CLS or CLS Specialist level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license issued by the State of California.

  • Less than two (2) years of experience qualifies as CLS level; over two (2) years of experience qualifies as CLS Specialist.

  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Must possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience with SoftLab LIS and Epic.
  • Experience with automated laboratory instruments in Coagulation, Hematology, and Chemistry.
  • Experience with ACL Tops, Sysmex XN-5000, WAM, Iris, Architect, Roche Cobas.
  • Experience with Hematology manual differentials, with skills in identifying abnormal cells in both blood and body fluids.
  • Experience with Protein Electrophoresis.
  • Experience with Immunosuppressant Drug Assays.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime, and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,498 - $133,674 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.61 - $64.02

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
