We are seeking a Senior Communications Manager for our Phoenix office to promote the firm's brand messaging across all communications platforms. Our firm provides a wide range of legal services in the areas of intellectual property, litigation, business transactions, regulatory and government relations.
Reporting to the firm's Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer and working closely with the client development and marketing teams, the successful candidate will help implement the firm's marketing communications and brand strategy to drive engagement with our clients and the business

Duties and Responsibilities:
Public Relations


  • Management of communications-related programs for firm, practice groups, industries and offices; help coordinate expert positioning strategies for key attorneys
  • Working closely with outside PR counsel, manage PR programs including media relations, expert positioning and other public relations activities
  • Manage and track thought-leadership activities, such as published article placements and blog posts
  • Provide media relations guidance and training, as necessary, to attorneys who interact with media



Website & Social Media


  • Develop content and promotion priorities on website and social media to ensure alignment with firm goals
  • Manage online communications, including website, social media and blogs
  • Ensure consistent voice and tone of digital assets



External Client Communications



  • Develop process for maintaining strong and consistent key messaging across all communications platforms including website, social media, marketing communications collateral
  • Work with Marketing and Client Development teams to collect and coordinate effective client communications strategies, including announcements and client alerts



Internal Communications


  • Creates and manages effective internal information distribution processes
  • Manages and ensures internal communications channels are utilized and updated
  • Helps position internal communications strategies in order to maximize readership



Community Relations


  • Work closely with the Client Development team to position the firm as a leader in key markets through targeted sponsorships, conference attendance, speaking engagements, and networking opportunities.
  • Help identify opportunities to partner with community and client organizations in order to elevate the firm's profile and demonstrate the firm's commitment to DEI, ESG and Pro Bono.
  • Additional duties as assigned in support of the marketing team and the firm



Skills and Abilities


  • Keen understanding of social media platforms
  • Ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze legal issues to develop communications strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of online communications strategy and execution


  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills, with ability to effectively prioritize and manage own work schedule and projects
  • Advanced writing, editing, copyediting, interviewing, and project management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to quickly changing demands and stringent deadlines
  • Ability to build relationships with marketing team and attorneys at all levels within the firm and to further marketing team objectives
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new or unfamiliar business topics
  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain working files and document revisions
  • Must be proficient in MS Office suite, including: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond in a professional manner to questions from clients and office personnel
  • Ability to recognize inefficiencies in work process and contribute to improvements
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback
  • Ability to produce high-quality deliverables in a virtual team environment
  • Commitment to professional growth and development

Education and Experience:


  • A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business is required; master's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in legal or professional services marketing
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing marketing communication teams
  • Strong corporate communications background
  • Ability to drive and motivate attorneys and staff with strong client service mentality
  • Experience in managing a team with understanding of organizational and team effectiveness
