Plate Maker I

This position is responsible for providing plates to press for all scheduled publications and maintaining equipment while on duty.

• Job performance must always be aligned with the primary job responsibility of customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers. Customers are defined as anyone who does or who may come in contact with the department, products or services. This effectively defines the customer as everyone
• Work with and take direction from supervisor
• Ensure proper maintenance and setup procedures are followed as defined by department supervisor
• Create/modify set-ups in plate processing system for all publications
• Create all paperwork required for each job
• Assist with plate counts, product information and any other requests as needed
• Check all plates for problems (scratches, scumming, position) before taking to press area
• Troubleshoot and correct problems when they occur

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Must read, write, speak and understand English
• Have a basic knowledge of plate processors and other related equipment
• Mechanical ability to include ability to troubleshoot and correct problems when they occur
• Knowledge and experience with newspaper print production
• Above average computer literacy with software and hardware. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, graphics software or equivalent PC experience
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Ability to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Computer training or experience

Prefer previous experience in a manufacturing or newspaper environment
