Interop Engineer I
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and testing of NextGen and Mirth applications.
- Responsible for bringing projects to "go-live" status which includes assisting in scoping, developing, testing, and deploying solutions for customers.
- Conduct requirements analysis, document technical specifications, and writes, reviews, and debugs code.
- Document project milestones, testing process/results, and implementation issues/resolutions.
- Troubleshoot problems, identify possible solutions, and resolve accordingly.
- Make recommendations to product revisions or enhancements based on end user feedback.
- Assist Senior level Engineers with implementations and projects, as assigned.
Education Required:
- Associates degree or technical certificate in a computer science related discipline.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
- 1+ years of experience in a client-facing, healthcare environment with emphasis on data exchange/interoperability.
Preferred:
- 1+ years of experience in an Health Level Seven International (HL7) engine such as Mirth Connect.
Licenses/Certifications Preferred :
- HL7 and/or SQL certification.
- Mirth Connect certification.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge and familiarity working of interoperability and its common technologies such as HL7 Extended Module (2.xm), Consolidated Clinical Document (CCD), Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (CCDA)and/or Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles.
- Knowledge and familiarity with source control methodologies, bitbucket, github, etc.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages like JavaScript, python or bash.
- Working knowledge of Application Servers like Glassfish or Payara.
- Working knowledge of DB environments such as MS SQL or PostgreSQL.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux.
- Knowledge of computer science including infrastructure, networking, and software development.
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability and patient data aggregation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) with advanced skill level in Excel.
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of technical aptitude in programming skills with an approach to achieve successful results.
- Ability to analyze engineering specifications including software design, documentation, and testing.
- Ability to work in a team environment employing a hands-on approach with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively communicate, at times in a non-technical language, with customers at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships through collaboration and respect.

Summary: The Engineer I, Interoperability will implement healthcare interoperability solutions based on industry standards. The Engineer I, will work with primarily within the Implementation team and will assist the Support team, as assigned. The Engineer I, Interoperability is responsible for all phases of implementations between a variety of proprietary and third-party systems including, but not limited to NextGen Enterprise, NextGen Office, Mirth Connect, and Health Data Hub. The Incumbent will act as the primary technical contact for assigned Implementation projects, and will communicate with customers, the NextGen Project Manager, and other project stakeholders.
