Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) is seeking an innovative individual with a strong
record of accomplishments in directing and coordinating the manufacturing of investigational
cell therapy products, to lead its Cell Therapy and Cell Engineering Core Facility (CTCEF). MSK
offers a highly interactive basic, translational and clinical science research environment
(www.ski.edu) inside of a multi-institutional academic community. This is a faculty position fully
supported by the institution



Job Description

The director is responsible for overseeing the development, validation, and supply of cell-based
and genetic experimental therapeutic products for early phase clinical trials. They provide
oversight and leadership to the core personnel for manufacturing, facilities/operations, Quality
Control/Quality Assurance, and regulatory support. This position is also responsible for financial
management, human resource management of the facility (hiring, training, mentoring, and staff
career development). The director will set the short, medium- and long-term scientific directions
of the core by gauging the needs of MSK scientists and physicians and by evaluating emerging
technologies. The core director's operational responsibilities encompass oversight of advanced
methods development, scientific consultation and liaising with the scientific community to grow
a sustainable state-of-the-art operation. The Director is expected to align the core's mission
with the institutional strategic planning and will report to the Immunobiology Program
Chairperson, the Cell Therapy Service Chief and a faculty oversight committee.

Applicants should have a MD or Ph.D. with expertise in in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular
Biology, Virology, Immunology, Biological Sciences, Cell Therapy or Gene Therapy, or a related
discipline with significant experience in an academic or industrial environment. Expertise in
investigational and clinical cell or gene therapy, development of immuno-oncology therapies,
vaccines, or cell and gene therapy, and regulatory submissions is required. Extended knowledge
of cGMP cell manufacturing, ability to develop, validate and transfer new findings into facility
manufacturing processes and product testing that meet state-of-the-art clinical needs are also
required. Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, have
demonstrated executive and leadership abilities. Candidates with experience in managing a large
core facility in a multiuser environment are strongly encouraged to apply.
