History Teacher - Worcester SEIS/DYS

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is currently seeking a History Teacher at our DYS education program in Worcester, MA (CES) is the Contracted Provider for SEIS, a program of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Since July 2008 we have worked with DESE to coordinate and deliver special education services to students in the care of the Department of Youth Services (DYS), Department of Mental Health (DMH), Department of Public Health (DPH), and the County Houses of Correction (CHC).

Classes are small and teachers should have a highly personalized approach with a focus on academic and behavioral success. You hold a current Massachusetts teaching license in History at the secondary level (8-12); (5-8) . We may also consider unlicensed applicants - if you feel this is the right job for you, please apply! CES has a Licensure Program to help you get your teaching career off to a great start.
You have a passion for teaching all students, especially those who have been marginalized.
You value professionalism and culturally responsive teaching.
You love to learn! You strive to understand emerging trends in education, seek to thoughtfully employ best practices, support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Highlights of What You Will Do:
Develop and implement curriculum lessons and mini-units, assessing and modifying as designated in student IEPs.
Provide content area instruction, integrating students' IEP goals and objectives, learning style information, accommodations and modifications as appropriate.
Implement effective instructional strategies and research based on curriculum, in accordance with the Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching and with host facilities' policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
Massachusetts teacher licensure in History
Demonstrated commitment in teaching high risk youth.
Committed to social justice and equity for students and adults alike.
Multilingual and/or multicultural candidates are desirable.
Preferred Qualifications : Master's Degree in Education or related field. We are especially excited about candidates with experience working in institutional settings.
Workplace Health and Safety: CES employees working on site in DYS, DMH, DPH or CHC facilities are required to demonstrate that they have received COVID-19 vaccination.
Compensation : Teacher scale is based on licensure and education. $51,000 -$72,000
CES Benefits : CES offers a comprehensive benefits package including: Health, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, and voluntary Short Term Disability, enhanced Vision and additional Life Insurance. Health Insurance is offered through Harvard Pilgrim and includes multiple plan options, including a PPO with a self-funded Health Savings Account, and HMO with a Health Reimbursement Account funded by CES to support a portion of health insurance deductions. FSA and Dependent Care accounts are available. CES is considered a quasi-state agency and provides two retirement options for employees based on eligibility. Employees are vested after ten years of creditable service. Professional development and mentoring offered throughout the school year.
