Overview
Work Arrangement: ***This is a hybrid role, working up to 3 days onsite in our Wilmington, DE offices.*** The Senior Communications Specialist leads the strategic development and execution of internal and external communication campaigns. Their primary role will be supporting internal communications, public/media relations efforts, and social media campaigns that enhance the brand and provides consistent messaging to our partners, customers, external stakeholders, and employees. This role will monitor, measure, and analyze internal and external communication campaigns to ensure engage key audiences. They are responsible to maintain, protect and enhance the image of The Bancorp, its business units, and its executives through owned and earned media, and foster employee engagement through internal communications.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Writes, proofs, edits, and distributes all internal communications to ensure clarity and consistency with brand standards, keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments and leadership to plan and execute employee engagement programs and events. Establish communication plans to promote these initiatives and drive participation across the organization.
- Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies that support organizational goals and enhance employee engagement.
- Supports the overall communication strategy by creating and implementing content for all aspects of social media and media/public relations, focusing on getting key information to stakeholders.
- Create content for the intranet homepage to promote relevant information, resources, and updates. Regularly update content to reflect company news, policies, and initiatives.
- Writes, revises, and distributes earned/owned collateral (i.e. press releases, advisories, alerts, blogs, social media posts, etc.) and associated deliverables using media relations-management software, email, phone calls, and/or other appropriate means of distribution.
- Cultivate relationships with key media contacts and influencers to secure coverage and partnerships that amplify the organization's reach.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the organization's reputation, visibility, products/services through earned/owned media.
- Optimizes and actively manages media relations software/tools for pitching and placement.
- Researches, identifies, and maintains a pulse on media trends, hot topics, and opportunities for the Company.
- Regularly analyzes and reports on internal and external communication campaign successes using available metrics and continuously refining strategies to improve best practices based on benchmarks and performance metrics to track effectiveness and progress.
- Digitally promotes our products and services during conferences, special events, etc. to drive traffic to designated area.
- Coordinates the design of promotional material and distribution in internal and external channels.
- Creates and oversee captivating social media campaigns across platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn to drive brand awareness, engagement, and community growth.
- Networks with industry experts and potential clients to drive brand awareness.
- Occasionally represents the company at events including promotional, recruiting, product launches, trade shows, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or related business field.
- Five years of communications experience gained in either an agency or corporate environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex messages.
- Proven ability to plan and execute strategic projects and manage competing priorities.
- Prior experience in financial services, payments, or FinTech preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and management skills to interact with executive management, staff, members, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and able to effectively prioritize work, in a deadline-driven environment. Focus on how meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
- Ability to work effectively and independently on simultaneous projects.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving.
- Ability to spot new media angles and communication campaign opportunities.
- Experience and comfort in calling reporters and building relationships with media outlets.
- Advance knowledge and experience using LinkedIn as a promotional tool.
- Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. In addition, candidates should be able to utilize PowerPoint to create presentations complete with analytical charts and graphics.
