Conducts therapy within a variety of modalities (individual, family or group settings). Assist with patient behavioural management. Consults with other disciplines within the treatment team. Assists with research and administrative functions as needed.
Accountabilities
Conducts neuropsychological/psychological assessment of adults and/or children with various neurological and psychiatric disorders. Provides neuropsychological consultation to rehabilitation medical and therapeutic staff. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of brain-behavior relationships and proficiency in neuropsychological test selection, administration, interpretation, and report writing. Demonstrates knowledge of the neurological implications of various neurological disorders. Provides staff with input on application of neuropsychological findings to patient care issues. Provides recommendations regarding academic and vocational re-entry. Provides recommendations regarding appropriate cognitive compensatory/remedial interventions. 30% Provides individual, group and/or family therapeutic services as appropriate. Demonstrates clinical skill as a therapist. Responds to clinical needs in a timely fashion. Maintains regular schedule of patient contacts in prompt, timely manner. Demonstrates proficiency in development of treatment plans. Provides case management function for 3rd party payers that require direct contact with psychologist provider. Demonstrates competence in clinical case management. Develops and assists in implementing individual behavior modification programs as needed. 30% Actively participates in patient and family education process. Provides education and training to patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, progress, long-term functional outcomes.Completes patient/family education in the functional areas noted on the Patient/Family Education Sheet prior to a TLOA or D/C (whichever is appropriate). Supports and conducts HILS as appropriate. Supports and provides educational material to patients/families for support groups as well as community resources. 20% Complies with departmental policies for documentation. Documents all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment, and discharge in the medical record in a timely, legible manner. Ensures weekly patient conference notes are succinct and contain information regarding progress to date and focus of further treatment.10% Assumes leadership role in patient/family support group. Participates in support group leadership meetings. Facilitates and participates in monthly support group meetings. Participates in other support group activities. 10%
