Responsibilities

What You'll Do

The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for performing duties as a member of the surgical team to assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to ensure that the operative procedure goes smoothly and quickly and that a safe surgical experience is provided for the patient. Accepts direction and is accountable to the RN for patient care needs during delivery, recovery and antepartum. The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform assistive duties in the L&D area under the direction of the RN
  • Responsible for the preparation, disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation pre-, intra-, and post-operatively
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of asepsis
  • Assumes responsibility for clinical competence and professional development
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Infant Security Plan. Transports stable newborn via crib within the Woman's and Children's departments.
  • Participates in the responsible management of all departmental resources
  • Takes call as a member of the rotating call schedule.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician course or equivalent. Certified Surgical Technologist preferred but will consider LPN with one to two years of experience working in a similar position. Current BLS required. Previous OR experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
