Virtualization Engineer

1901 Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Virtualization Engineer to provide Citrix support out of our Blacksburg Virginia Enterprise IT Operations Center. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement, monitor, and sustain multiple versions of Citrix infrastructures in multiple customer environments.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and sustain multiple versions of Citrix and Citrix Farms.
  • Create, Deploy, Monitor, Sustain and manage Citrix images using Citrix Imaging Services (MCS and PVS).
  • Experienced with Citrix imaging/provsioning services, protocols, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot all escalated Citrix issues ranging from hardware to operating systems/applications/permissions/user profile related issues.
  • Analysis of Citrix/Windows Patch requirements and remediate accordingly.
  • Demonstrate excellent networking and technical skills, proficiency with the design, implementation and support of Virtualization solutions, integration of enterprise server, storage, network, and virtualization components, and exhibit strong project management and communication.
  • Implement, install, and recommend technologies including systems management, server virtualization, network storage and security.
  • Perform troubleshooting and management of Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, ICA and File/Print services.
  • Perform troubleshooting and management of Citrix NetScaler (VPX/SDX).
  • Evaluate and architect network, server, and storage architecture plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for existing hybrid Platform in Azure and Nutanix.
  • Technical writing for both system integration and transition to operations teams.
  • Work in hybrid multi-location operations team administering existing production network.
  • Follow, maintain, and produce in-house documentation for repeatable processes, including database feature installation, disaster recovery, and common problem resolution.
  • Assist in creating automation and process improvements toward greater efficiency, reduced incidents, and proactive systems management.
  • Support tickets and manage incidents, service requests, and problems through their full life-cycle.
  • Provide health and performance reporting and take appropriate actions based on trends in data.
  • Document status updates and communicate to necessary parties.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and knowledge articles for Shared Desk and Help Desk teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years experience or an Associate's degree and 6 years experience, additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Experienced with Citrix Virtualization Desktop and Applications
  • Experienced with Citrix Imaging Provisioning and Machine Creation Services.
  • Experience with Liquidware application streaming/layering and Citrix Profile management
  • CompTIA Security+ or Obtain CompTIA Security+ within 3 months of hire date.
  • Experienced with PowerShell or other scripting tools
  • Familiar with ticketing systems and the value of good documentation
  • A US Citizen who can obtain a public trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler ADC SDX/VPX
  • Experienced with Application Virtualization Technologies (App Layering/Streaming)
  • Experienced with Ivanti Endpoint Management
  • Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP-V)
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop Service on Citrix Cloud Certified (CC-VAD-CC)


Pay Range:Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
