Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,518 - $3,694 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 - $6,791 per month
  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
  • Area of consideration is limited to on-campus, state funded employees only.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Working independently under the general supervision of the Director of the Smittcamp Family Honors College (SFHC), the incumbent will provide a variety of administrative support duties to meet the mission of the University and SFHC by performing a wide range of specialized high-level administrative functions. Assignments include, independently, the following: coordinating tasks and events requiring timely and accurate planning, organizing, prioritizing, interpreting, decision making, and applying discretionary skills; applying, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with applicable university and division level policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the University infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of, and ability to, apply fundamental concepts in the performance of a variety of administrative, technical, and analytical duties that relate to day-to-day program operations.
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them.
  • Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Basic video- and photo-editing skills.
  • Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems (Microsoft Office Suite, calendar, email, etc.).
  • Experience with website building platforms (Squarespace, Omni CMS).
  • Ability to:
    • Learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the Smittcamp Family Honors College.
    • Work independently, take initiative, organize, coordinate, and perform work in a high demand environment.
    • Analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques.
    • Organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities and monitoring them through completion with accountability for work results.
    • Make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough solutions.
    • Compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty.
    • Deal appropriately with confidential information and exercise good judgment on sensitive matters.
    • Serve as a resource to students, staff, and the community in responding to inquiries and providing detailed information.
    • Create, analyze, and evaluate program information and provide data for review in developing and implementing strategies and activities; conduct ongoing analysis and evaluation of operations and systems to assist in achieving programmatic goals.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the organizational unit.
  • Demonstrated history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
    • Preferred Skills:
      • One to three years of directly related experience, preferably in a higher education institution.
      • Working knowledge of General Education.
      • Strong analytical skills to gather data.
      • Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload.
      • Skill to work both independently and as a team member.
      • Sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
      • Technical skills to learn and use online tools and administrative software.
      • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
      • Ability to:
        • Be a team player.
        • Be receptive to constructive criticism.
        • Troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work area.
        • Understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
        • Analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
        • Use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
