Department: Massachusetts Migrant Education Program

Title: Bilingual Home-Based Kindergarten Readiness Instructor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Migrant Programming and Partnership Manager

Purpose: Instructors will implement kindergarten readiness curriculum to individual students aged 3-5 and their parent/caregiver. Visits will range from 45-60 minutes per visit, with 3-6 visits made to the child over the course of the year. Visits can take place at the student's home, library or another public space nearby.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicate directly with assigned families/students to plan visits

  • Offer individualized kindergarten readiness instruction in a home based setting

  • Create and maintain a positive and fun environment that is engaging and enjoyable for students

  • Adapt the instructional plan to accommodate the abilities, needs and interests of student and parent/caregiver

  • Track attendance and participation

  • Communicate regularly with the Migrant Programming and Partnership Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Access to reliable and insured vehicle or public transportation

  • One year of early childhood/early elementary teaching experience in a formal setting

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)

Physical Demands:

  • Able to travel to and between home visit locations

  • Ability to multi-task and respond to plan alterations with a positive mindset

  • Must be able to communicate and converse effectively with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures in Spanish

Work Conditions:

  • Requires working a flexible schedule including weekends, to accommodate family schedule

  • Employees are expected to follow CES Workplace Safety Standards and required COVID-19 prevention and mitigation protocols.

  • Requires travel and meeting families in their home/community

Terms of Employment:

  • Part-time; 10-20 hours a week, hours are dependent on program needs

  • Compensation is $30/hr
