Hepatologist - Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Clinical X or Health Sciences Series - Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one (1) full-time position in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Professor Series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service.

The position will provide general and transplant hepatology care and sustain a clinical research program in liver disease or a focus on education. The division currently has an active program of clinical trials and observational studies and has opportunities to lead these for patients with MAFLD. There are also opportunities to develop multidisciplinary clinical programs in MALFD or other areas of interest.

Clinical responsibilities will include providing hepatology and liver transplant outpatient consultations and endoscopic procedures as well as sharing the inpatient Hepatology/Liver Transplant consultation services. Educational responsibilities will include supervision of consultations and procedures by fellows, residents, and medical students as well as providing lectures to various audiences. The GI Division currently includes 24 faculty and 3 nurse practitioners, who provide services at 5 clinics and 4 ambulatory endoscopy units, with ongoing expansions.

Clinical research within the division is supported by the GI Clinical Research Unit which includes 8 research coordinators and staff supporting over 50 studies. The division has a long-standing history of providing outstanding patient care and medical education. UC Davis Health serves a 65,000-square-mile area that includes 33 counties and 6 million residents across Northern and Central California. The UC Davis Medical Center is a 600-plus bed hospital with further expansion ongoing including an innovation hub, Aggie Square, and the 14-story California Tower.

• The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education.
• Candidates must have expertise in general gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures.
• Candidates must possess an M.D.
• Candidates must have experience working cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

• Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
• Candidates must be qualified for licensure within the State of California.

• Certification in Transplant Hepatology or additional hepatology training qualifying the candidate to be eligible for the Certification in Transplant Hepatology is preferred.
• Expertise and/or experience in clinical research, clinical program development, and/or education is preferred.
