Who We Seek
Rein In a Dream (RIAD), our Premier Accredited Therapeutic Horsemanship Center seeks an experienced Certified Instructor to join our team. We seek a dynamic engaging instructor who is passionate about teaching traditional riding/horsemanship skills to children and adults with various special needs. Our warm and welcoming center encompasses 30 acres of pastures, hay fields, a renovated antique barn, and an indoor riding arena. The natural environment, our horses, and small farm animals create a holistic setting for learning and personal growth.
Who You Are
You are a dynamic and collaborative team member who is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of learning and growing, ensuring that the participants have opportunities for success. You are a Certified and Licensed Therapeutic Riding Instructor with a wide range of experience teaching individuals with special needs. You understand the benefits of connecting children and adults with equines to meet their therapeutic goals. You have advanced instructional and horsemanship skills. Your teaching methods allow participants to develop traditional horsemanship skills while including activities and lesson content that meets the individual goals. As a member of our team, you would have the opportunity to provide mounted, unmounted individual, semi-private and group horsemanship lessons. You are interested in providing Animal Assisted Intervention and Vocational Training services. You embrace the opportunity to share your unique experiences and talents to further enhance the services offered at the Center. Willing to mentor a candidate who is working towards PATH Intl. Certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mounted and un-mounted horsemanship lessons according to best practices and regulations set forth by the Massachusetts Riding Instructor Licensing Requirements and the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International
- Provide direct instruction to children and adults from the Community and clients from RFK Community Alliance following regulations and established safety protocols
- Develop and Implement lesson plans incorporating interactive activities to meet the individual needs of the participant
- Implement therapeutic lesson programs including but not limited to Equine Education, Vocational and Animal Assisted Therapy/Activity Programs
- Implement and teach after-school and vacation programs
- Responsible for lesson preparation, ensuring that the horse is properly prepared, is in good health and capable of participating in the lesson, that the riding equipment is in good repair, and that the physical environment is safe, clean, and free of any hazard
- Track participants' progress in e-Hana, a client care management system used by the Agency
Requirements:
- Experience teaching traditional riding and horsemanship skills
- Experience working with and teaching children and adults with a wide range of psychiatric, social, emotional, executive functioning and learning challenges
- Comprehensive knowledge of teaching mounted and unmounted horsemanship skills
- Experience teaching semi-private and group lessons
- Effective communication, writing and organizational skills
- Massachusetts Riding Instructor License
- PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Services, Special Education, Psychology, or related field
- Physically fit, ability to lift 50lbs and provide support as needed for participants
- Must be 21 years of age
Shift
Full-Time position 30-40 hours per week to include afternoons, evenings and one weekend day
Per Diem positions available (positions does not qualify for $2500 sign on bonus)
Hourly Range: $21-$24

$2,500 Sign-On Incentive
This position is eligible for the RFK Community Alliance Sign-On Incentive in the amount of $2,500 in your first year of employment. You will receive $500 after 3 months; $500 after 6 months; $1,500 after 12 months
