Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) a dynamic medium size consulting firm with offices across the United States and Canada. We are looking for a full-time Database Developer in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming, or Fort Collins, Colorado office or potentially remote.

The minimum base salary for this position is $55,000 and the maximum is $80,000, plus an annual bonus. Salary may vary based on education, knowledge, and experience.

Job Description: The successful Database Developer is responsible for developing, querying and maintaining a variety of databases for multiple projects and ensuring the security of the databases.




  • Database design, development, administration, and support in MSSQL and PostgreSQL environments.
  • Performs tuning, optimizations and updates to the databases. Troubleshooting of performance issues.
  • Develop databases following standard principles including triggers, indexes, data types, constraints and Boyce-Codd Normal Form.
  • Writes SQL queries, stored procedures, jobs, functions, and views.
  • Performs ETL with tools such as SSIS.
  • Data modeling with an understanding of cardinality, datatypes, relationships, and related concepts.
  • Reporting with tools such as SSRS, Tableau, or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Data engineering with bigdata, nosql, and handling non-structured data, such as acoustic files, photos, and videos.
  • Collaborates and consults with project managers, clients, and study investigators including biologists and scientists from various disciplines to conduct queries, design database structures and logic.
  • Backups, restores and enhanced recovery methods outside of nightly image-based backups.
  • Makes recommendations to management for improvements of WEST's database infrastructure.
  • Manages database security and permissions.
  • Create customized solutions around issues.



WEST builds custom applications for clients in the C# and .Net Framework. Knowledge and comfort with Windows applications, Web API, user interfaces, web applications and middleware R, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript useful but not required.

  • A bachelor's degree in information science with an emphasis on database management or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years' experience in an IT or database management position.
  • Strong technical expertise.
  • Record of exceptional customer support.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling information and documentation.
  • Detail oriented in all transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and make independent decisions.
