The Department is looking for Lecturers with demonstrated teaching experience in related disciplines ranging from race and social movements, to cultural and media studies, to legal and science studies. Appointments will range from part-time to full-time and may be extended. Course-loads will range from one course in one quarter up to nine courses over a full academic year - depending on the department's needs and the qualifications of the candidate - and will be determined at time of hire. Responsibilities entail effective instruction of students, teaching classes in accordance with course objectives and published schedules, advising student on academic matters, and maintaining an active interest in the advances/current thinking in their subject area. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies (or a related discipline) at the time of appointment. Preferred qualifications
Preferred applicants have experience managing large classrooms (50-300 students), must demonstrate excellent record in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, have strong demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.
