Staff Research Associate II - Neurodegenerative Diseases Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases Full Time 75552BR Job Summary We are seeking a laboratory technician/research associate, who will work with the Southworth lab and collaborate with other laboratories in the IND. The person in this position will support the research efforts focused on the characterization of neurodegenerative disease-associated tau fibrils. This individual will be engaged in direct research efforts, through recombinant protein expression and purification, electron microscopy, fluorescence screening assays and tau amyloid fibrillization assays. The successful candidate should have knowledge or experience in the skills related to this research emphasis including protein expression in e. coli, protein purification, and protein fibrilization or aggregation using thioflavin T fluorescence. In addition, he/she must be highly motivated and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior experience with protein purification methods, negative stain electron microscopy and protein fibrilization assays is required. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
