The Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at De Anza College is part of the Intercultural/International Studies (IIS) Division. The IIS Division includes Ethnic Studies (African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicanx/Latinx Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, including Pacific Islander Studies), Intercultural Studies, International/Global Studies, and World Languages. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE Teach a full-time assignment in Women's Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies courses using student-centered pedagogies. Assignments may include day, evening or weekend courses. The assignments will include in-person courses, as well as online and hybrid courses that meet synchronously and asynchronously. Instructors will foster an inclusive, respectful and active community of learners that critically explores and investigates a problem-posing approach. The range of possible courses include: WMST 1: Introduction to Women's Studies, WMST 8: Women of Color in the US, WMST22: Asian American Pacific Islander Women (cross listed with ASAM), WMST24: Women and Gender in Global Perspective, WMST25: Black Feminism (cross listed with AFAM), WMST26: La Mujer (cross listed with CHLX), ICS26: Intro to LGBT+ Studies, WMST27: Women and Gendered Violence, WMST29: Masculinities in US Culture and Society, WMST31: Women and Popular Culture. Instructors will engage in emancipatory pedagogies that make connections between the classroom, our Campus, and society at large. Standard duties expected of the position include: assist in coordination of departmental course offerings/schedule, cultivate collegiality among department faculty, development, revision, and evaluation of curricula, complete Student Learning Outcome Assessment Cycles (SLOAC's), contribute to department program review, maintain scheduled office hours, engage in collaborative participation in department and division meetings, collaborate with other departments to enhance the visibility and impact of the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department, engage in community outreach, advocacy, and networking to promote the department and its mission, pursue professional growth activities (particularly those focused on supporting student learning and success), and perform other duties consistent with the role of an instructor and member of a college community. Instructors participate in campus extracurricular student support and success activities, and serve on college-wide and district committees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
