JOB TITLE: Yurt Chef

REPORTS TO: Executive Chef

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/ Hourly

POSITION:

As the Yurt Chef at Solitude Mountain Resort, you will play a pivotal role in creating memorable dining experiences for guests seeking refuge from the cold and adventure on the slopes. Your culinary expertise and creativity will be key in providing high-quality meals in a unique yurt setting, offering a cozy and rustic ambiance. You will collaborate with the resort's culinary team to design menus that showcase local ingredients, cater to various dietary preferences, and reflect the spirit of Solitude.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Menu Planning and Development:
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to design diverse and appealing menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.
  • Consider local and seasonal ingredients to create dishes that align with the resort's culinary philosophy and yurt dining concept.
  • Develop menus that accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all guests.
  • Food Preparation and Cooking:
  • Execute food preparation and cooking in the yurt's kitchen, ensuring high-quality and consistent dishes.
  • Manage and coordinate kitchen operations, including ingredient preparation, cooking techniques, and plate presentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Kitchen Leadership:
  • Lead a small team of kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to kitchen and front of house staff, ensuring they adhere to culinary standards and safety protocols.
  • Quality Control:
  • Monitor the quality of dishes at every stage of preparation and presentation, ensuring they meet the resort's standards of excellence.
  • Address any issues or inconsistencies promptly and implement corrective measures.
  • Guest Interaction:
  • Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions about the menu, making recommendations, and accommodating special requests.
  • Use guest feedback to continuously improve menu offerings and dining experiences.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering ingredients, tracking supplies, and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with the resort's procurement team to ensure a steady supply of fresh and high-quality ingredients.
  • Event Coordination:
  • Contribute to special dining events or themed evenings hosted in the yurt, collaborating with the resort's event planning team.
  • Adherence to Regulations:
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and culinary innovations to enhance the yurt dining experience.


SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent culinary training and experience.
  • Proven experience as a chef in a high-end restaurant or catering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diverse cooking techniques and international cuisines.
  • Ability to lead and manage a kitchen team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative flair for menu development and dish presentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the resort's operational schedule.
