Dosimetrist

Medical Dosimetrists work with Radiation Oncologist, Physicists, Radiation Therapists, and fellow Dosimetrists, as well as other healthcare professionals to create accurate radiation treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation treatments. The treatment planning for radiation therapy involves photon and electron beams, high dose rate brachytherapy, total body irradiation, SBRT, IMRT treatments. Medical Dosimetrist assist in quality assurance projects, workflow efficiency initiatives and participation in research protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess a current Certified Medical Dosimetrist {CMD) certificate issued by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
• Bachelor of Science degree
• Knowledge and understanding of current practices in radiation therapy, planning and administration.
• Basic understanding of principles and guidelines used for linear accelerators, CT/simulator and HDR units. Knowledge of treatment planning systems and departmental information management systems (Mosaiq) Proficiency in 3-D, IMRT external and brachytherapy (HDR & LDR) treatment planning.
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with others to secure necessary information and cooperation from a variety of people.
