Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant for assigned online course (s), facilitating communication between and providing course support to students and faculty.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responds to student inquiries through TA office hours, synchronous sessions with instructor, or other forms of communication.
  • Assists with discussion forums by facilitating and contributing to discussion to promote student engagement.
  • Promotes communication between faculty and students by communicating to faculty when there is a problem or concern, or need for clarification on course material.
  • Provides support to faculty by collecting and reviewing the format of written assignments (such as APA formatting).
  • Communicates regularly with the course faculty.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education or related field.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations
  • High level of comfort with technology and the online course format.
  • Strong knowledge of content area for specific courses.
  • Strong knowledge of research methodology, learning sciences, learning theory, or other theories of Learning.

Classified Title: Teaching Assistant
Role/Level/Range: ACRO37.5/03/CE
Starting Salary Range: $19.25 - $26.50/hr (commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Casual / On Call
Schedule: Flexible / 6 hours per week
Exempt Status:Non-Exempt

30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
