Associate Director, Inclusion & Equity / Title IX Coordinator

Job Description Summary

Title IX Duties and Responsibilities

·         Manage multiple, on-going, and complex caseload of Title IX related incidents and complaints.

·         Provide or facilitate ongoing training, consultation, and technical assistance on Title IX for students, faculty, and staff.

·         Lead teams of Deputy Coordinators, investigators, hearing officers, and advisors; assign team members to address formal complaints.

·         Update, maintain, and revise University sexual misconduct policies, procedures, and protocols as needed to remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

·         Set forth remedies, including supportive or emergency measures

·         Continuously monitor and advise University departments/Colleges on how to address sexual misconduct on campus and ensure ongoing compliance with Title IX

·         Collaborate with the University's Clery Act Compliance Coordinator

·         Remain abreast of developments in Title IX, applicable laws, and best practices

·         Aid in leading the University’s Sexual Assault and Violence Education (SAVE) Team

·         OIE Associate Director Duties & Responsibilities

·         Provide leadership with programming efforts campus wide, with a focus on cultural competence, incorporating efforts with diverse groups to engage and educate the campus and community on diverse, multicultural topics

·         Collaborate with multiple campus offices to improve the university experience and the retention of underrepresented students

·         Collect and report data on student support initiatives and student success and review best practices from the research

·         Engage in and provide support for established UA signature programs including but not limited to Rethinking Race, the Black, Brown and Beyond Male Summit, Diversity Week, Hispanic Heritage Month, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Women's History Month, National Coming Out Day, to name a few.

·         Lead department’s social media initiatives

·         Perform administrative support functions of the Office of inclusion and Equity and Title IX

 

Additional Position Information:

Required Qualifications

Requires a relevant bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience.  Requires experience working with students, faculty, or staff to address issues of equity, opportunity, and diversity. Strong communication, written and interpersonal, and analytical skills. Demonstrated commitment to preventing sexual misconduct.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctorate or master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, social work, or counseling. Supervising experience, preferably in higher education, as the position requires indirect supervision of ten or more persons in various departments.

 

Leadership:

Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of students and/or temporary workers.

Compensation: The compensation for this position is $65,000 - $70,000 based on experience. The University of Akron offers a competitive total compensation package comprised of a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits for eligible employees including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, and paid leave of absences including time off for illness, vacation, and maternity or paternity leave. In addition, eligible employees and their dependents are provided tuition remission.
