UGA Cooperative Extension was founded in 1914 to bring research-based agricultural information to the people of Georgia. County agents and specialists throughout the state share information on issues like water quality, profitability in agribusiness, family wellness, and life skills. County agents provide soil and water test kits and instruction, advice on safe pesticide use, publications, computer programs, and lessons in consumer skills to improve Georgians' quality of life. They are the local experts in food safety, proper eating habits, child safety, and parenting.
UGA Extension coordinates 4-H, Georgia's largest youth program. Each year, almost 200,000 young Georgians participate in community projects, summer camps, and conferences on today's issues while having fun and learning to work together. The leadership skills and values they learn in 4-H last a lifetime.

Position Summary |
The Henry County Program Assistant position is a non-exempt position within UGA Cooperative Extension. This position primarily delivers 4-H programming to local youth. This person works cooperatively with all Extension faculty and staff where applicable and is administratively responsible to the appropriate County Extension Coordinator and the District Extension Director. Work in this occupation is by nature a combination of office and field work.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county, district, and state staff, local government employees, and clientele.
Complete 4-H Chaperone Training.
Proficient in typing, filing, and computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office and.
Ability to learn about all of the services and resources available to county Extension clientele and the ability to assist clientele with access to these services and resources. |

Assist 4-H'ers in preparation for 4-H competitive events including project achievement, judging teams, etc. Transport or arrange for transportation of 4-H'ers to various district and state level events and if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events. Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs. |

Identify, recruit, train, involve, and recognize volunteers in planning, teaching, and evaluating Extension 4-H programs and assist interested volunteers in the successful completion of the 4-H Chaperone Training. Recruit 9 to 18 year old students to become involved in 4-H educational programs. |
