POSITION SUMMARY

This position reports to the Elyria Site Operations Manager

Responsible for leading, managing and providing technical direction for a team of manufacturing engineers within the site. Plans, prioritizes and determines resources to accomplish project milestones and objectives including Lean Enterprise initiatives. Interaction is primarily with other business unit functional departments. May interact with customers, suppliers or contracted resources.

Primary resource for supporting the site in its Lean Transformation through the implementation of the Parker Lean
System (PLS). Delivers practical, hands-on training to team members in PLS methodology and tools to eliminate waste in
all administrative, manufacturing and support functions. Measures and reports progress on an on-going basis using
the site's Win Scorecard and site's PLS Lean Journey Assessment. Ensures full PLS education and implementation in all functional areas at the plant or facility level to ensure consistency and sustainability.

This is an on-site, team leader role in our Elyria, Ohio facility. A degree in an engineering field is required. Experience as a manufacturing engineer as well as hands-on experience with lean implementation is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Plan and schedule work assignments for the team. Monitor project schedules, timelines and deliverables using standard project management tools and engineering systems.
2. Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing/ production principles and techniques to areas of production.
3. Act as the primary contact for the team; serve as the liaison in providing status across other internal teams. Assure that internal and customer needs are identified and addressed.
4. Provide technical guidance to team members and reviews the accuracy and completeness of
assignments. Define individual accountability and milestones to meet project objectives. Communicates performance expectations and provides assistance to resolve problems encountered by the team.
5. Monitor and maintain budgetary controls; allocate resources and make recommendations on the acquisition and use of equipment, systems, or other capital expenditures.
6. Compile engineering and operational cost data and identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce cost or improve productivity. Provide feedback to the team on performance.
7. Makes recommendations on human resources actions (e.g. staffing, training, compensation, etc.) for review with the next level manager. Communicates and implements actions to ensure Parker values and company policies are well understood and maintained (e.g. business ethics; integrity; inclusion).
8. Mentor or serve as a resource to share specialized knowledge with others. Maintain leadership and technical capabilities through continued education or training.
9. Guides all PLS initiatives at the facility. Works with Site leadership on Lean implementation using Parker Lean Systems as the principal tool. Ensures the development of a robust Lean Future State Strategy to be implemented at the site.
10. Ensures adherence to PLS standards for the site, Value Stream and Team Improvement Boards, enabling a PDCA culture and progression of the Lean Journey. Where appropriate, supports Plant Lean team members through required and special team meetings. Provides high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting productivity, material control, product quality, and customer service goals.
11. Ensures that the site organizational structure has been reviewed and that resources are aligned for the Lean Transformation.
12. Ensures on-going education of all employees at the site in PLS. Promotes a Continuous Learning environment.
13. Communicates the status of all Lean efforts to the Operations Team Leader and Division Lean Manager.
14. Provides documentation of results and benefits achieved as reported through Parker's Lean Journey Assessment and Win scorecard. Shares "best practice" methods and ideas with Division Lean Manager.
15. Leads the sites High Performance Team initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
* Bachelors' degree (BS) in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field.
* Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six (6) years or more of increasingly responsible related experience AND four (4) years of successful manufacturing experience with at least two years of direct Lean leadership.
* Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) or Mechanical Engineering (ASME) certification desired.
* Demonstrated understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow,
Single Piece Flow, Five S's, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process,
Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma and Communication Tools, Statistical Problem Solving and QS9000.
* Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean/Flow throughput world.
* Effective presentation skills to share the success and ideas of the Division.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering theories, principles, practices, techniques and concepts and broad knowledge of other related engineering areas and general business operations.
* Thorough knowledge of aerospace or similar industry products and ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.
* May require thorough knowledge of process analysis review and statistical process control.
* General knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing plants.
* Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
* Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer-aided manufacturing systems.
* Ability to apply drafting and related machining systems to make recommendations for improved productivity.
* Ability to work on a variety of technical problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs; solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways and evaluate alternative solutions that may require coordination across multiple teams.
* Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures; effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management; respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services.
* Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
