Position description

The Department of Molecular Biology in the School of Biological Sciences is conducting an open search for Project Scientists (non-tenured, Assistant, Associate or Full level). At UC San Diego, Project Scientists are academic researchers who are expected to make significant and creative contributions to a research team but are not necessarily leaders of the research team. They are not required to carry out independent research or develop an independent research reputation but will publish and carry out research or creative programs with supervision by a member of the Professor or Professional Research series. University and public service are encouraged but not required and they do not have formal teaching responsibilities. Appointments and duration vary depending on the length of the research project and availability of funding. Research topics could include but are not limited to: immune cell development, COVID-19, mammalian genome structure, antibody diversity, nuclear architecture, gene expression, virology, microbiology, microbial genetics, next-generation sequencing data analysis, and epigenetics.

The School of Biological Sciences at UCSD is a vibrant center of scientific discovery, innovation, and collaboration. Our large research base spans many areas of biology. We are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.

Initial review of applications will commence on February 24, 2024, and will remain open until filled based on the ongoing needs in the Department of Molecular Biology.
