In 2019 the facility was designated as Meggitt's Machining Center of Excellence with state-of-the-art multi-axis milling, turning, and additive layer manufacturing equipment.
  • Parker Meggitt Fluid Systems Division - North Hollywood, California manufacturing features an upgraded 110k square foot, world-class manufacturing and testing facility. The facility has been designated as a Machining Center of Excellence within the Parker Meggitt group with recent additions of state-of-the-art multi-axis milling, turning, and additive layer manufacturing equipment. We also have testing capabilities for fluid and pneumatic valves that can duplicate the high temperatures, pressures, and flow rates of modern aircraft systems. With our in-house design and development capabilities and growing product portfolio, we are in a leadership position for the next generation of high-performance aircraft engines and airframes.
  • Parker Meggitt Fluid Systems Division - North Hollywood, California facility designs and manufactures valves and controls that regulate the flow of air and fluids under pressure and high temperatures. Its pneumatic and fluid control lines include fuel, mixing, starter valves, air-oil separators, and solenoid valves used in commercial and military aircraft and aero engines. Industrial offerings provide fuel, bleed-air control valves , and ground fueling products for power generation and mechanical drives.

JOB DESIGNATION:

  • The Buyer will be responsible for meeting the department and company's financial goals, including cost savings and purchase price variance.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop strategic supplier relationships, including working closely with support groups to improve cost, quality, delivery, and other key performance metrics. Responsible for creating purchase orders from requisitions, MRP, and long-term agreements. Create, track, manage, evaluate, and award bids.

JOB CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully understand Meggitt and our customers' requirements and effectively flow these down to the immediate and secondary supply base (2nd tier).
  • Manage the entire business cycle, from solicitation, purchase order placement, confirmation, to invoice payment.
  • Improve performance of assigned suppliers (E.g. quality, delivery, affordability, financial stability, labor status, product mix).
  • Support the quotation of new programs/contracts through supplier quotes and estimation.
  • Coordinate return and replacement of defective materials with Quality Assurance and the supplier.
  • Negotiate short and long-term supplier agreements to reduce administrative burdens, while meeting all other company objectives.
  • Ensure support of the continuous improvement program within the assigned supplier base.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required.
  • May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and additional hours as necessary

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree is required

Certification: Preferred APICs certification of CPIM or CSPM, a plus

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

  • 3-5 years of direct material procurement experience in aerospace and defense industries
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding purchasing, logistics, incoming product inspection and inventory control
  • Demonstrated use of negotiated techniques and tactics
  • Aerospace, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or machined parts manufacturing, engineering, cost, and/or procurement requirements knowledge/experience
  • Familiarity/experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques (i.e. RCCA, Six Sigma methodology), a plus
  • Familiarity/experience with SPC principles and methods, a plus
  • Working knowledge of ISO-9001, AS9100, a plus
  • Use of and deployment of electronic purchasing systems (eRFQ), VMI, and consignment, a plus

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $65K-$105K
